Meet Sauki who took the PADI IDC Gili Islands in 2015 with Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod. Sauki is from the island of Lombok and has been working in Gili Trawangan for a number of years as a professional dive guide.
Sauki has worked as a Dive Guide and a PADI Divemaster at Trawangan Dive for a few years now and has several years industry experience as a scuba diving professional. Although he enjoys his work and is a fantastic PADI Divemaster, he has always dreamed of taking the next step and furthering his educational and professional ambitions. That dream has now become a reality with the help of PADI South East Asia, Trawangan Dive and Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod.
As a PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center (CDC), Trawangan Dive places a huge importance on professional PADI training, particularly when it comes to Instructor Level Training. Also having trained a number of Indonesian candidates our Platinum PADI Course Director was extremely happy to help Sauki further his education, improve his career and live out his dream.
As a long term employee of the dive center coupled with the desire and motivation to take the next step, the choice was easy for Sauki. The materials and the training were all provided via a joint sponsorship between PADI South East Asia, The Dive Center, The Dive Management team and our Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod. Being a native Indonesia citizen from Lombok Sauki knew it would be tough as the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) was conducted entirely in English and the training material is not yet available in his native language, but he was entirely ready for the challenge.
With the help of sheer determination, hard work and the support of his colleagues and the PADI IDC GoPro team including language support from Bahasa Indonesian speaking IDC Staff Instructors, Sauki is now a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor and has taken the next step in fulfilling a dream of furthering his educational and career achievements.
During the program candidates are introduced to the PADI educational system and its values as the world most favored dive training agency.
Candidates learn about the business of diving, marketing, sales, risk management, diver retention and the structure of individual PADI programs. They will review dive theory from the Divemaster Course and learn about PADI Standards and Procedures. They will also learn about organizing and conducting the various PADI programs available.
Candidates will develop their teaching skills as they prepare to present classroom subjects, confined water skills and open water training as well as mastering training techniques including those from the Discover Scuba Diving and Rescue Diver Programs.
