Meet Eko, a highly experienced dive professional from the Island of Flores, Indonesia who recently took the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) with Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod in Gili Trawangan. With the support of the Blue Marlin Komodo Management and PADI Asia Pacific Office Eko has achieved his ultimate goal of furthering his education and career in the Job he loves doing.
Much like the Geko found all over the tropics Eko needed to be adaptive, spontaneous, alert and nocturnal sometimes spending his time during the program exploring new teaching techniques and ideas, often working late into the night on his theory and teaching presentations and doing it all in a different language.
Having worked as a professional dive guide in Labuan Bajo, Flores for a number of years Eko is a highly experienced diver, dive guide, underwater photographer and dive trip organizer and therefore a highly prized asset to Blue Marlin Dive, the Komodo Dive Community and the diving industry as a whole. Although Eko loves his job, he has always wanted to go further and expand his scuba diving education and explore the realm of teaching new divers about the underwater world so they too can also experience this glorious activity for themselves.
Eko traveled to the Gili Islands, met Holly his PADI Course Director and immediately began working towards his dream, taking part in a variety of skills and knowledge based workshops designed to review, fine tune, perfect and master components of the PADI Divemaster Program.
The course is made up of classroom, confined water (swimming pool) and open water training workshops and prepares students to deliver the PADI educational system in a fun, easy to understand way whilst exhibiting the highest possible standards and service to their future students.
The pre IDC preparation workshops are designed to review the knowledge, skills and professional training elements from the Divemaster Course preparing candidates for a smooth transition on to the PADI Instructor Development Course. Once all of the Divemaster training elements have been reviewed, refined and mastered candidates can make the most of the training provided during the Instructor Development Course.
Classroom sessions during the Instructor training segment of the course include dive industry marketing workshops, business of diving seminars, confined and open water course conduct and preparation planning workshops, specific organization and preparation workshops for individual courses programs, Knowledge development teaching preparation workshops, Adaptive teaching techniques workshop, Risk Management sessions, an in-depth review of the PADI system and its educational elements, Diver retention and acquisition seminar and of course Standards and Procedures review seminars.
Confined sessions will include dive skill mastery workshops and skill circuit practice, organization and conduct for entry level divers, confined water teaching presentations and in water rescue course organization and conduct.
Open Water sessions will take place at the purpose built Instructor training site and will consist of conduct and organization workshops for the Open Water, Adventures in Diving, Rescue, Divemaster Programs and practicing conducting individual Open Water Teaching Presentations to a mastery level.
Despite the course being conducted entirely in English, Eko with the use of our Language Support from Ronny Wijaya; an Indonesian PADI IDC Staff Instructor, has excelled in every aspect of the program and will make an excellent PADI Scuba Diving Instructor and prove to be a highly prized asset to Blue Marlin Dive and a true ambassador for PADI and its philosophy.
The PADI IDC Gili Islands Program with Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director is the best possible place for professional Divemasters looking to take the next step within their diving career and increasing their diving knowledge. With many previous PADI IDC Indonesia Graduates now working within this exciting and rewarding industry, the PADI IDC Indonesia Progression is simply the best place for professional divers wishing to enhance their education, career and future opportunities doing something they love.
