We would like welcome three new PADI Instructors who have recently graduated the PADI IDC Indonesia Program at Trawangan Dive.
Sarah, Fanchon and Andy chose to take the Gili IDC Challenge at Trawangan Dive and all scored fantastic results in their Instructor Exam. Andy is now working at Blue Marlin Dive in Gili Trawangan. Although Sarah has been offered various long term contracts on the island she has decided to go to Flores, do some diving and maybe work as a freelance PADI Instructor. Fanchon is returning to the UK to continue her studies whilst teaching PADI Courses in her spare time.
Although the course is hard work it can also be a lot of fun and all three managed to forge close bonds which will last well into their diving careers.
During the program candidates will need to attend and participate in 14 curriculum presentations. These are; the Course Orientation, Dive Industry Overview, General Standards and Procedures, The Role of Media and Prescriptive Teaching, Legal Responsibility and Risk Management, PADI Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver Course, Adaptive Teaching, The PADI Continuing Education Philosophy, Business Principles for the Dive Instructor, Adventures in Diving Program, Specialty Diver Courses and Master Scuba Diver Program, Rescue Diver Course, Divemaster Course, Diver Retention Programs and How to Teach the RDP (Instructors from recreational diver training organizations other than PADI must complete).
Candidates will also learn how to conduct The PADI Discover Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Programs to perfection. They will learn how to conduct Knowledge Development Presentations, Teach Project AWARE and Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialties as well as teaching in Confined Water, Conducting Open Water Training Presentations and learning to master the Dive Rescue Skills Assessment part of the Rescue Course.
During the program candidate will also learn about PADI Standards will work towards their final PADI Standards Exam.
During the program candidates will need to demonstrate performing all 24 dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation, performing a facedown & nonstop swim for 800 meters/yards using a mask, snorkel and fins. During the course they will need to demonstrate competency in Dive theory by passing a five-part theory exam scoring at least 75% on each part.
The PADI IDC on Gili Trawangan runs once a month at Trawangan Dive; the first ever established PADI Career Development Center in Lombok and the Gili Islands.
